Emerging Artist Grantees exhibit new work at Homewood Studios

freeArtwork by one Minneapolis artist who is Deaf is included in "Six Emerging Artists," an exhibit being held February 11-27 at Homewood Studios, 2400 Plymouth Ave. N., Minneapolis. Each artist with disabilities received a Jerome Foundation grant in early 2015 to help them to create new work. Administered for 20 years by VSA Minnesota, the state organization on arts and disability, the program features these artists:
Liza Sylvestre, Minneapolis – multi-media: painting/drawing/performance;
Renae Carpenter, Cambridge – acrylic painting;
Michael Cohn, St. Louis Park – dance: choreography and performance;
Naomi Cohn, St. Paul – poetry;
Chris Juhn, Burnsville – photography;
Romayne Kilde, Fergus Falls – pencil drawings.
An opening reception on Thursday, Feb. 11, from 6:00 to 7:30, will feature poetry, dance, and meetings with the artists. Paul Deeming is the ASL interpreter.
